Strategically located in Northern Virginia, where the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) is situated, we conduct patent searches and evaluate global patent documents at the USPTO. We prepare U.S. and international (PCT) patent applications, and handle patent, trademark, copyright, licensing and technology matters worldwide.

Our Professionals. Our staff of attorneys, patent agents, illustrators, paralegals, technical writers and patent searchers includes former Patent Examiners. Our Chief Patent Officer Richard J. Apley was a USPTO Director.

Our Founder. The law firm was founded 28 years ago by Patent Attorney Richard C. Litman. Recognized in the Martindale Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and in Who's Who (in the World, in America, in Law, and in Industry & Finance), he finished college at 15 and earned 3 law degrees, including an advanced degree in Patent & Trade Regulation Law. He is chairman of a commercial bank. His business experience provides added value to our intellectual property clients.

Litman Law established and sponsors the Global Academic Innovation Network (GAIN) to facilitate among its 2800+ participants the formation of multinational collaborative relationships for scientific research and the development and commercialization of innovative technologies throughout the world.
